Here follows a history of the school as published on the Fairfax County Public Schools website:

The Oak Grove School was built in 1872 near the intersection of Hampton Road and Henderson Road. Early records also refer to the building as the Woodyard School. It was replaced in 1922 by a new schoolhouse, also named Oak Grove, which as of this recording in 2021 still stands near the intersection of Henderson Road and Wolf Run Shoals Road. The building was converted into a dwelling after the School Board sold the property in 1932.
